The NERF MEGA blaster line is no longer in production, probably because the whistling darts that were sold by NERF were so inaccurate. They curved through the air quite randomly, even when new. Because of this, it is now easy to find good condition NEEF MEGA blasters at Goodwill and other second-hand shops for U.S. $3.99 - 12.99 for even the big, expensive ones. This means that a blaster collection enough for TWO SQUADS could be yours for ridiculously cheap! Couple that with the fact that NFSTRIKE sells vastly superior "accu-fake MEGA" darts for dirt cheap in bulk, and I've stumbled upon the perfect storm for supplying parties with awesome outdoor blaster brawls for ridiculously little cash.
Combining the "accu-fake MEGA" darts with the variety of blasters I found has let me supply the entertainment for three parties so far, personally. Everyone loved the balance between accuracy, range, safety, and smack. The accu-fake darts don't hurt in the slightest, especially when wearing basic safety glasses, but unlike the normal NERF ammo, players can easily tell if they've been hit.
Also, running around with the MEGA blasters was universally reported to feel "badass"! The children at my son's party said that they had a lot of fun. The adults at my son's party said that it was some of the best fun they had all year! My coworkers at my work party had so much fun that my boss told me that it made for the funnest work party yet. Also, nobody got injured at any of the parties.
The NERF MEGA blaster line is essentially trash with the normal whistling darts, but don't miss out on the perfect storm.
